Dr. Rand sat behind an antique wood desk, paging through a plexicon set to A. Z. Rosenbaum’s Show Them All!, a favorite among misunderstood geniuses and adolescents. Behind him was the skeleton of an aquatic humanoid from the Devonian Age, the last of his race, a splendid specimen that Dr.
Rand had harvested personally on an Amazon expedition years ago, over the hysterical objections of irksome locals.
Plastered about the room were hand-drawn charts showing cross-sections of various aliens
and mutants Dr. Rand had cross-sected, scribbled with voluminous notes and diatribes. The students sitting nearby were freely referring to them for the test.
